Many women own businesses these days. In fact, 39 percent of today’s businesses are women-owned. But often, women also have the jobs of raising kids, making dinner, doing laundry…the list goes on. So how does today’s business woman balance family life with running a company?

The short answer is that there will need to be quite a bit of wine and margaritas involved. While alcohol can provide some relief from the drudgery of picking up toys, washing dirty jeans and keeping the kitchen clean, it’s not a permanent solution.

Below, are just a few ways that women can have it all and not lose their minds:

Take some “Me” time

Schedule in some time each day where you can relax and do the things you enjoy. Women often give up the things they love in favor of seeing to everyone else’s needs. You may have to get help by hiring a housekeeper or baby sitter, but it’s important to stay connected to yourself.

Put everyone on a schedule

With kids, this can be challenging. But it will help your day go smoother if you have a smooth flow of events from the time you awake until the time you go to sleep.

Don’t try to do it all yourself

In any new business, we have the feeling that we can’t hire the help we need … that we have to do everything ourselves. But when you have people assigned to fill key positions, you can focus on building your brand.

A Final Word

Being successful is about more than just earning lots of money. It’s about making time to enjoy your life. Get together with friends or take up a relaxing hobby. Have a girl’s night out each week. Don’t allow your life to become a crazy circle of stress where you feel like you’re going bananas each day.
